Information Security Consultant
The Security Consultant is responsible for ensuring the security of data throughout its lifecycle. They will work with technical & business contacts to identify critical data, & define appropriate access controls & policies for that data. Because this data may reside on many disparate systems & spans many business lines, the Security Consultant must be able to quickly understand how data flows throughout the organization & what processes & controls will be most effective in protecting sensitive data.
In addition to access controls, the Security Consultant will be responsible for gathering & documenting drivers & requirements for data control. These may include legal & regulatory issues, business requirements, & industry best practices. The Security Consultant will be required to have a general understanding of thee requirements & assist with the development of policies & programs to address them.
Having identified sensitive data & developed appropriate policies, the Security Consultant will assist in the creation & delivery of an IT Security Awareness program. They will create materials, give presentations, & work individually with technical & business staff to increase awareness of data protection & other related IT Security topics.
The Security Consultant will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, evaluating alternative strategies, developing recommendations and ensuring responsive communication with business representatives and IT management. The Security Consultant must interact with appropriate technical experts to develop effective and economical solutions in a timely manner. Qualifications Business/technical degree and CISSP certification required; 7 years total Information Technology experience.
Demonstrated experience in three or more of the following areas: Data leakage/content monitoring and filtering; Secure messaging/email encryption; Mobile device security; Disk, file, device and database encryption; Key management/Public Key Infrastructure (PKI); Data classification and privacy policies; Secure information storage.
Familiar with industry standards (ISO 27002/27005, NIST 800-30, Cobit 4.1, ITIL) and applicable regulations (Sarbanes Oxley, FERC, HIPAA, HITECH).
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, must have excellent interpersonal skills, and must demonstrate effective verbal, written and presentation skills.
This position will be filled at the posted level and within the salary range if commensurate to the experience (i.e., skills, knowledge, & abilities) of successful candidate; however if unable to be filled at this level, the position may be filled with a respective competitive market based on the experience of the selected candidate
