Responsibilities:
The qualified Nurse Consultant will:
* Be able to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the operational and clinical aspects of acute venues: inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing/sub-acute, nursing home, home health, hospice and/or assisted living;
* Possess the analytical skills to quantify the potential financial and operational impact of performed assessments;
* Have the written and verbal skills to be able to quantify results of operational and clinical assessments and develop creative and comprehensive corrective action plans;
* Have a proven successful experience in working with both clinical (therapy and nursing), medical staff and support staff in implementing performance improvement and/or corrective action plans, providing hands on assistance and direction, as needed;
* Have the skills to develop, facilitate and provide presentations and education/training modules focused on clinical (therapy and nursing) and medical staff audiences;
* Be able to develop and implement all components (policies and procedures, job descriptions, chargemasters, etc) of a start-up program in a post acute venue up to and including successful accreditation and/or Medicare/Medicaid certification;
* Have a working knowledge of compliant billing/coding practices and have the ability to audit these practices for compliance;
* Have experience and solid knowledge of ICD-9 coding system and information about ICD-10 coding changes.

Requirements:
The qualified candidate will possess:
* Clinical background as an RN;
* Current licensure and active participation in an associated, clinical profession association (e.g., APTA, ARN, ASHA, AOTA);
* Management or leadership experience in acute continuum (acute rehabilitation, home health, LTCH, and/or subacute care), preferably experience in more than one level of care;
* Consulting experience, or similar business-to-business experience (i.e., contract management business development, sales, etc.)
* Excellent writing and speaking skills;
* Proficiency in the use of work-related software, including Microsoft Office, Visio, Project Manager, and Access;
* Direct patient care or management experience within last 5 years in one or more acute venues;
* Familiarity with accreditation processes, e.g., CARF, JCAHO, Baldridge, etc.;
* Willingness to travel.
* Additional billing/coding experience.
